The Australasian Wire Industry Association Inc. is a non-profit organisation formed by companies involved in the manufacturing sector to support the long term development and prosperity of the wire industry throughout the Australian, New Zealand, Pacific and South East Asia region.

Member companies are involved in all aspects of the industry from wire manufacturers and raw material suppliers, wire products manufacturers, machinery suppliers and ancillary service providers.

The Association's inaugural meeting was held on the 4th March 1993 in Melbourne, Australia. The founding members were coil spring manufacturers who were members of the Spring Manufacturers Association of Australia which had been formed in 1963.

The Association has now grown to include over 130 companies involved within the wire industry throughout the region.

CONFERENCE 2007 - Palm Cove, Queensland

The AWIA 2007 Conference was a resounding success at the

Novotel Rockford Palm Cove on the 12th & 13th of October 2007

The AWIA 2007 conference was a great success from a business and social point of view, but also importantly for member networking.

Feedback from delegates was very positive with many saying it was the best they have attended.

The Association was delighted to have a presentation from the Head Economist from Colonial First State Global Asset Management, Hans Kunnen. Hans' presentation covered the economic influence of China. Hans discussed the macro-economic view of Chinas impact on both construction and manufacturing.

on various topics which covered general business interests which were of relevance to all members of the Association.
